Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory University, and graduate student Keon-Young Park, produce high-quality images from the gels shown to quantify cathepsin activity. They measured significant variability in cathepsin activity among healthy individuals, which may indicate that a one-size-fits-all approach to treat atherosclerosis, osteoporosis or cancer may not be the best strategy.
