Reading Calcium to Write Memories: The Importance of Camkii Autophosphorylation (VIDEO)
Caption
Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience (MPFI) researchers optimized existing imaging methods so they could better visualize CaMKII activation induced by calcium level increases. For the first time, they were able to see how CaMKII acts during synaptic plasticity when neurons fire rapidly, and calcium spikes occur in quick succession.
