Differentiation of Cardiovascular Lineages from a Common Precursor Cell (IMAGE)
Caption
As in blood development, in which a variety of blood cells emerge from a common ancestor, the various cells of the heart are now thought to have a common precursor. Previously, it was thought that different cell types migrated from different locations to form the heart. This schematic combines findings from Wu and Orkin with previously published data.
