Adult Baboon with Adult Female with Clinging Infant (IMAGE)
Caption
An adult male baboon (foreground) and an adult female with clinging infant (background), forage for food. Notably, the adult male baboons are substantially larger than adult females and have impressive weaponry (i.e. larger teeth). This means that they are not only socially dominant to females, but are also less vulnerable to predators, which would influence the costs and benefits of being in peripheral versus a central location within the group.
