A liquid water droplet on a water monolayer on a polar model surface has been observed at room temperature, and has been termed an 'ordered water monolayer that does not completely wet water.' The blue sky and white cloud represent room temperature; green spheres represent solid surfaces; silver spheres represent an ordered water monolayer; and red and white spheres represent oxygen and hydrogen atoms of the liquid water molecules.
