Cahoon (IMAGE) University of Nebraska-Lincoln Caption A research team co-led by Ed Cahoon, biochemist at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, has identified two major fatty acids in vegetable oil for what may be the first time in decades. Those fatty acids appear to give the oil -- produced by the seeds of a plant named the Chinese violet cress -- an edge over castor oil in lubrication performance.
