Star Clusters in the Mon R2 Region

This is an image of an observation in the Mon R2 region showing three forming star clusters at different stages in their evolution. UMass Amherst astrophysicist Stella Offner has received an NSF CAREER grant to better understand fundamental questions in star formation. She will use computer simulations to test different theories about how they obtain their masses and how they interact with their birth environments.
