Tumor Protein Correlated with Cancer Spread (IMAGE)
Caption
Peng Loh and colleagues at the NIH and the University of Hong Kong examined the correlation between levels of the protein CPE delta N and the spread of liver cancer. Red bars indicate cancer spread, green bars when it did not, for each stage of the disease. Darker colors represent higher levels of CPE-delta N RNA in tumor tissue. At each stage, cancer in tumors with high levels of CPE-delta N RNA (more than twice levels in surrounding tissue) was more likely to spread to other parts of the body.
