Modern and Fossil Porcelain Crabs (IMAGE)
Caption
The shells, or carapaces, of a modern porcelain crab (left) and the oldest known fossil porcelain crab (right). The carapaces are 8 and 3 millimeters wide, respectively. Porcelain crabs are really members of the squat lobster family that became adapted to the same intertidal environment as true crabs.
