Isaac Larsen and colleagues at UMass Amherst will combine several tools -- field surveying, analysis of cosmogenic nuclides, LiDAR-based topography and landscape evolution modeling -- to study Midwest soils where remnants of native prairie still exist in Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska and South Dakota.
