The colors represent salinity, with blue being fresher, and yellow colors are saltier water. As you watch this movie, you will see the salty yellow patch oscillate in and out, with the movement of the tide (on a 12.5 hour cycle). There is also a slower change in the position of the salt and fresh-waters, controlled by the monsoon (on an annual cycle).
