Fibrin Clearance Required for Fracture Healing (IMAGE)
Caption
Micro-CT imaging techniques developed by Jonathan Schoenecker and colleagues enable visualization of blood vessels (shown in color) in bone. Healing of fractures in the middle of the bones requires removal of fibrin (fibrinolysis) from the fracture site so that disrupted blood vessels can grow, extend and reconnect.
