Leonid Pobezinsky says that when microRNAs were discovered over 20 years ago, people thought they were a product of RNA degradation, RNA dust. Now he and his wife and research collaborator Elena Pobezinskaya have shown how one miRNA known as Lethal-7 serves as a molecular control hub to direct the function of cytotoxic T lymphocytes.
