Pigeon Study Takes on Sexism in Science

Scientific studies have a bias towards using male subjects. UC Davis biologist Rebecca Calisi is studying differences between male and female pigeons (rock doves) to make the case for more inclusive studies. A baseline study shows major differences in gene expression in the hypothalamus and pituitary between male and female pigeons.
