Could Edible Chemotherapy Be Made from Raw Milk? (VIDEO)
Caption
You can't eat chemotherapy. That's because your digestive system breaks down the molecules you eat into smaller pieces that can be absorbed through the gut into the bloodstream. However, there is an exception to this rule. A special mechanism in mother's milk helps it shepherd antibodies into a baby's blood, bypassing degradation by the digestive system. Now University of Colorado Cancer Center investigator Tom Anchordoquy, Ph.D., is harnessing this system to deliver chemotherapy molecules past the digestive system and into the blood, potentially leading to edible, milk-based chemotherapy.
