MSU professor Robin Gerlach looks at a vial containing organisms collected from a highly alkaline spring in Yellowstone National Park. The organisms have shown the potential for use as a biofuel for transportation and Gerlach is working on a study to test the feasibility of developing the technology for large-scale commercial production.
