Explaining CasΦ, a Tiny but Mighty Cas Protein (VIDEO)
Caption
Postdoc Patrick Pausch and doctoral student Basem Al-Shayed discuss a new gene-editing protein, CasΦ, which was discovered in a virus that attacks bacteria. Because it is very small and compact, the novel Cas protein should be easier to deliver to cells by a viral vector to alter plants or cure disease.
