Encapsulated Hemoglobin

UConn researchers have successfully stabilized hemoglobin, the oxygen carrier protein in the blood, by wrapping it with a polymer poly(acrylic acid) chain. This image shows a nanoparticle composed of hemoglobin molecules surrounded by the polymer chain, which appears as a very light corona.
