On Feb. 24 at 2:29 a.m. EST the AIRS instrument aboard NASA's Aqua satellite captured infrared data on TS18S. The coldest temperatures (purple) and highest cloud tops (and strongest thunderstorms) appeared in a large area around TD18S's center.
