This is an image of a microfluidic device that will be used by researchers as part of a project selected for the DOE Joint Genome Institute's Emerging technologies Opportunities Program (ETOP) that focuses on the high-throughput sorting of microbial cells. The project could provide useful information in accelerating the functional characterization of genes from metagenomic sequencing experiments, one of DOE JGI's highest priorities.
