Rigid Polymer Structure (IMAGE) Massachusetts Institute of Technology Caption Researchers at MIT have designed a new way to engineer a polymer structure at the molecular level, via chemical vapor deposition. This allows for rigid, ordered chains, versus the messy, 'spaghetti-like strands' that normally make up a polymer. This chain-like structure enables heat transport both along and across chains.
