Clockwise from bottom left: Human DCC mutation carriers exhibit a significant reduction in putamen volumes (red). These same mutation carriers also exhibit reductions in mesolimbic and mesocortical tracts, with the latter colored according to local fiber orientations (green: anterior/posterior; blue: inferior/superior; red: left/right.) Many of these fibers pass through the putamen, shown in pink. Volumetric reductions are also seen in Dcc haploinsufficient mice with significant effects in the nucleus accumbens (red) and the hippocampus (teal). Additional depicted regions are the dorsal striatum (green) and anterior commissure (yellow), all illustrated on the average mouse brain template.
