Virus Strategies (IMAGE) Kyushu University Caption Using a model to fit experimental data measured for cells infected with two strains of hepatitis C in the lab, researchers have quantified the viruses' preferences to adopt either a stay or leave strategy. The stay strategy emphasizes keeping copies of genetic code in the cell to accelerate replication, while the leave strategy focuses on packaging and sending out genetic code to infect more cells.
