A Clear Need for a Global Network (IMAGE)
Caption
Ecological change -- variations in climate, arrival of invasive species, pollutants in the environment, health of fisheries, status of timber and wildlife -- is often measured and studied locally. More than 34 nations (dark green, above) are members of a network that supports long-term data gathering and analysis on a global scale. Nearly a dozen nations (light green) are considering network membership.
