Nicotinamide Alleviates MS-Like Disease in Mice (IMAGE)
Caption
In mice with MS-like disease, nicotinamide delayed and reduced neurologic disability as indicated by behavioral scores (1 indicating mild weakness only in the tail; 4, paralysis involving all four limbs). Mice receiving placebo (saline) had the most disability, while mice receiving high-dose nicotinamide had the least. Wlds mice (which more readily convert nicotinamide to NAD) benefited most from treatment.
