The researchers' findings are described in the June 5, 2015, issue of Science magazine. On the cover: The Awa people of the Brazilian Amazon. Some of the Awa have recently contacted the outside world, and such contacts with isolated tribes are on the rise. Anthropologists say that these emerging tribes are threatened by common Western diseases and exploitative outsiders and may face a dangerous future without protection.
