Conventional wisdom says that the scaffold in an important class of biological molecules called glycoconjugates is essentially inert. Work by Michigan Tech chemist Tarun Dam suggests otherwise, which could open the door to new and more-effective drugs. Dam is holding a container of lectin, a key component of his team's research.
