Ticks infected with the bacterial pathogen B. burgdorferi can transmit the pathogen to humans, resulting in Lyme disease. The illness, which may not be immediately detected, causes fever, headache, muscular issues and fatigue. If untreated, rheumatologic, cardiac and neurological complications can result.
