Artist's rendering of the vacuum ultraviolet photochemistry of astrochemically important triatomic molecules.

Combined with the vacuum ultraviolet free electron laser and the table-top lasers, the photochemistry of small molecules in the whole photolysis wavelength region and all of the photo-fragment channels could be well investigated. The detailed knowledge of photochemical processes will help us understanding the molecular evolution in the universe.
