Visualizing neural dynamics during working memory (VIDEO)
Caption
This video of neural activity in primary visual cortex (V1; left) provides evidence that the neural activity during a spatial working memory task dynamically evolves from representing the memorized location (pink circle) to representing the memory guided saccade that will shift gaze from central fixation (pink cross) to memorized target location (pink circle). Activity in other areas, like V3AB (right), only encode the past target location with little dynamics.
