A team of researchers from Sahmyook University discovered that mice lacking Period 2 (Per 2), a gene associated with circadian rhythm, show greater addictive responses to the psychostimulant methamphetamine but not cocaine, pointing at the role of Per2 expression in governing an individual’s vulnerability to drug abuse.
