These images, generated from soft X-ray tomography performed at Berkeley Lab's Advanced Light Source, helped researchers pinpoint which strains of engineered bacterial cells are the most efficient at producing a non-native product. This project will help make bio-based manufacturing of valuable medicines, chemicals, and food products faster and more sustainable.
