Marzetta, the originator of Massive MIMO antenna technology, won the IEEE Communications Society 2019 Fred W. Ellersick Prize for the outstanding paper published in an IEEE ComSoc magazine over a three-year period. Marzetta is an associate director of the NYU WIRELESS multidisciplinary research center and distinguished industry professor in NYU Tandon School of Engineering's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
