Pierre Haenecour, Washington University in St. Louis (image) Washington University in St. Louis Share Print E-Mail Caption This is Haenecour with the NanoSIMS 50 ion microprobe he used to look for presolar grains in a primitive meteorite. The silica grain he found is too small to be seen with the unaided eye, but the microprobe can magnify it 20,000 times, to about the size of a chocolate chip.
