Symposium to Honor Michel T. Halbouty . . .
U.S. Geological Survey Director Charles G. Groat will join a roster of leading earth scientists from industry and academia in looking to the future at the symposium "Natural Resources and Hazards: Challenges for the Twenty-First Century," scheduled for 1:30 p.m., June 18, 1999 at the National Academy of Sciences Building, 21st and Constitution Ave., NW, Washington, D.C. This symposium is in honor of internationally renowned earth scientist and engineer, Michel T. Halbouty, whose career and accomplishments in geology and petroleum engineering have earned him recognition as one of the world's outstanding geoscientists.
"We are pleased to assemble this group of leaders in the earth sciences to provide their views of the coming century on resources and hazards. This look ahead is a particularly appropriate tribute to Michel T. Halbouty, who has contributed much to the development of energy resources for current and future generations," said Groat.
