Science or fiction? Local professor investigates

Peer-Reviewed Publication

American Chemical Society

From Star Wars to Star Trek, H.G. Wells to Ray Bradbury -- all use science as a basis for their stories. Local professor and author Dr. Jack Stocker will discuss his new book, Chemistry and Science Fiction, at the 218th national meeting of the American Chemical Society, the world's largest scientific society. James Gunn, scriptwriter for the television series "The Fugitive," says in the book's introduction: "Every author of serious science fiction passes along to readers a belief in the importance of science, and the possibilities for drama and excitement in a scientific environment. I hope this is only the first of a series of books about the relationship between science and science fiction."
