LSU to hold National Science Foundation conference

BATON ROUGE -- Twenty National Science Foundation program directors and staff members will be on hand when Louisiana State University hosts a regional NSF grant-development conference March 20-22 in Baton Rouge.

The conference will coach faculty researchers on grant-writing techniques, cross-disciplinary programs and new policies and opportunities at the NSF.

The conference is primarily for science, math, social science and engineering researchers and university administrators from the Southeast but is open to all potential NSF grant applicants, including those working for state agencies or private industry. There are more than 200 registrants to date, coming from as far as California, South Dakota and Maine.

A conference fee of $150 includes continental breakfasts, breaks, luncheons, a Cajun dinner with a jazz band and conference materials.

Key NSF grant administrators and program directors will be available to meet one-on-one with participants. Workshops by NSF staff will address proposal preparation; the merit-review process; grant writing; grant administration, compliance and accountability; and cross disciplinary and special-interest programs. Other presentations will give researchers an overview of NSF programs and operations. The sessions will also provide participants with a chance to network with colleagues from around the South.
