Largest human factors/ergonomics gathering to meet in San Diego

SANTA MONICA, CA - The International Ergonomics Association's XIVth Triennial Congress will be held concurrently with the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society's 44th Annual Meeting next year, making this the largest international research conference ever held in the field's history. More than 2500 professionals are expected to attend the event at the San Diego Marriott Hotel and Marina when it convenes on July 30, 2000.

During the five days of the Congress, almost 300 technical sessions will feature the latest research and application findings in areas including musculoskeletal disorders, medical systems, aviation and transportation, computer systems, communications, virtual environments, cognitive engineering, and organizational design. In addition, hundreds of posters will be on display.

Two dozen hands-on workshops will also be offered, most of them on the weekend before the opening day. Other offerings include the Opening Plenary with keynote addresses, tours of local technical facilities, social events, special ceremonies to announce winners of both IEA and HFES awards, and the HFES Placement Service. Exhibitors will display products and services in a 2-1/2-day show.
