Genuth receives award from American Diabetes Association

Saul Genuth, professor of medicine at Case Western Reserve University's School of Medicine and University Hospitals of Cleveland, has received the Charles H. Best Medal for Distinguished Service in the Cause of Diabetes from the American Diabetes Association. The award is named for the co-discoverer of insulin and honors Genuth's tireless efforts in the field of diabetes.

Genuth, who received his M.D. from CWRU, has worked in the field of diabetes for more than 40 years. Currently, he chairs the Epidemiology of Diabetes Intervention and Complications Study. This is a follow up of the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT) Planning and Treatment Committees, which he also chaired. Genuth's efforts have contributed greatly to the understanding and treatment of diabetes and its complications.
