Geoscientists to gather in Reno for GSA annual meeting

The 112th annual meeting of the Geological Society of America, "Summit 2000," will be held November 9-18 at the Reno/Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nevada. The technical program takes place from Monday, November 13, through Thursday, November 16.

The meeting includes eight Pardee Keynote Symposia, consisting of invited papers by leaders in a variety of geoscience disciplines. Pardee topics of particular interest include the coming revolution in planetary geoscience and contrasting visions of Earth in the 21st century from a geoscience perspective.

This year's technical program contains a record number of sessions (152 at present), with content of interest on national, regional, and local levels. Topics range from new developments in active tectonics and oceanic island volcanism to recent developments in environmental geoscience. Detailed media advisories and a schedule of press briefings to be held at the meeting will be issued as soon as the technical program is finalized in September.
