The American Chemical Society has reached an agreement with the Canadian National Site Licensing Project that gives academic research institutions across Canada access to the entire catalogue of ACS Web Editions, the online version of ACS scientific journals.
The agreement with CNSLP is the largest of its kind in the history of the ACS Publications Division, and clears the way for over 650,000 undergraduate and graduate students and faculty throughout the Canadian university system to access ACS Web Editions. “This agreement exemplifies the Society’s mission to provide high-quality chemical information products to the worldwide scientific community,” said Dr. John K Crum, ACS executive director. The Publications Division also has institutional licensing agreements with 20 other countries.
“The CNSLP represents a collaborative effort of the nation’s universities that is unprecedented in scope and impact,” said Deb DeBruijn, executive director of CNSLP. Robert D. Bovenschulte, ACS publications director, added “it’s an honor to be among the first electronic resources licensed by CNSLP”, which also has agreements with the Institute for Scientific Information, Royal Society of Chemistry, Institute of Physics (United Kingdom), Academic Press, Springer-Verlag and the American Mathematical Society.
The goal of the CNSLP (http://www.uottawa.ca/library/cnslp/) is to license electronic versions of scholarly journals for distribution to the Canada’s universities. It is composed of 64 universities and administered by the University of Ottawa.
The ACS publishes 30 peer-reviewed journals in print and online. ACS journals (http://pubs.acs.org/about.html) are the most cited and heavily used journals in chemistry, according to ISI® Journal Citation Reports®. Back to EurekAlert!
