Vehicle collisions with wildlife

Peer-Reviewed Publication

Canadian Medical Association Journal

Vehicle collisions with wildlife are common and often cause significant property damage and human injury. In this issue of CMAJ’s Public Health column, Erica Weir discusses the injuries caused by accidents involving large animals like deer and moose and offers helpful tips on avoiding such direct contact with nature. Dr. Weir’s advice is timely, given that statistics show most moose hits occur in October (during mating season) or April (when the animals are attracted to highways by road salt).
