EHelp donates RoboDemo software worth $75,000 at retail to UC San Diego

Supports technology in education by providing RoboDemo tutorial software to colleges and universities in the community

Business Announcement

University of California - San Diego

San Diego, April 10, 2003 -- eHelp Corporation, the makers of RoboHelp, and University of California, San Diego (USCD) announced today a $75,000 donation in retail value of eHelp's RoboDemo eLearning Edition software to the university through the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology [Cal-(IT)2]. RoboDemo provides university faculty, researchers and students with the ability to quickly and easily create professional Flash-based eLearning simulations that give end users a visual, step-by-step demonstration of any software or Web-based application.

"We are finding RoboDemo to be a tremendously valuable program, and one with applications far beyond what one normally sees in software donations," said Gabriele Wienhausen, Cal-(IT)2's Education layer leader at UCSD and Provost of the university's newest undergraduate Sixth College. "We are very pleased to be able to participate in eHelp's RoboDemo donation, and look forward to extending the use of RoboDemo to further benefit both students and faculty. RoboDemo is an extremely powerful application for creating tutorials and demos that makes Flash technology available to a wide range of users."

UCSD is already using RoboDemo to instruct students and faculty how to register for classes on-line, fill out Web-based forms and navigate the university's Web site. The university will also use RoboDemo in outreach programs that bring new technologies to underserved communities, including the Hewlett-Packard funded Tribal Digital Village project that links San Diego County's 17 Indian reservations; that project is led at UCSD by professor of ethnic studies Ross Frank. The Education Layer of Cal-(IT)2 -- a collaboration of UCSD and UC Irvine -- plans to implement RoboDemo in labs for students in the undergraduate Interdisciplinary Computing and the Arts Major (ICAM), and the software will be installed at the Center for Research in Computing and the Arts (CRCA) for faculty, visiting artists and students.

Jorgen Lien, CEO of eHelp Corporation, said, "We are pleased to provide UCSD with technology that enables faculty to develop innovative teaching methods that improve the learning process. eHelp Corporation is committed to furthering the development of eLearning at the university level by providing free copies of its RoboDemo software to schools in our local San Diego community." UCSD is the first recipient of eHelp's RoboDemo donation.

Other local colleges and universities benefiting from eHelp's RoboDemo donation include California State University, San Marcos; Grossmont College; Mira Costa Community College; Palomar College; and the San Diego Community College District including City, Mesa and Miramar Colleges.

About RoboDemo

RoboDemo makes building interactive and animated software simulations in Flash format a simple task. Simulations are ideal for online training, to demonstrate products, or provide user support tutorials. RoboDemo records any running application and instantly creates a Flash simulation of the application, with visible and audible mouse clicks. Simulations created with RoboDemo can be easily enhanced by adding text captions and images, audio, text entry and click boxes, eLearning-specific features like quizzing, branching and scoring, and other effects. RoboDemo simulations are small file size and high resolution, making them ideal to post on the Web or an Intranet, burn on CD, integrate with a Help system, and even email.
