NYU Child Study Center to honor Larry Summers, President of Harvard and Ann Tenenbaum and Tom Lee

Sixth Annual NYU Child Study Center Child Advocacy Award Dinner

On Wednesday, December 3, 2003, The NYU Child Study Center will host its sixth annual dinner at the Regent Wall Street. Chaired by Beth and Michael Fascitelli, this year's dinner, "Giving Children Back Their Childhood," will celebrate the remarkable advances researchers from the Child Study Center have made in the field of mental health which, in turn, will help children suffering with mental disorders to lead happy, healthy and productive lives. Honorees include Lawrence H.. Summers, President of Harvard University and Ann Tenenbaum and Thomas H. Lee for their commitment to children and adolescents.

At this year's dinner, guests will include Erica Jong, author, Fear of Flying, songwriter Denise Rich, Stuart Suna, President, Silvercup Studios; Edgar Bronfman Jr., future top executive of Warner Music; and NYU Child Study Center Board members; Brooke and Daniel Neidich; Alice and Thomas Tisch; Arthur Carter, publisher, The New York Observer; Mickey Drexler, Chairman and C.E.O, J. Crew & Co.; Gary Cohn, Managing Director and Co-Head Equities Division, Goldman Sachs; Jane Rosenthal, Tribeca Productions; Richard M. Schaps, President and C.E.O. of Van Wagner Communications and Michael Fascitelli, President, Vornado Realty Trust.

In addition, the Child Study Center will debut a public service announcement campaign including television spots narrated by Whoopi Goldberg. Whoopi is a strong advocate an advocate for child mental health issues and was honored by the Center at the Fifth Annual Child Advocacy Award Dinner in 2002. The PSA campaign includes television, print and radio spots sponsored by The Bear Stearns Charitable Foundation and created by BBDO New York. The campaign, which also features the tagline, "Giving Children Back Their Childhood," is part of a larger 9/11 Public Education Campaign designed to educate parents, teachers and others about detection and treatment of both 9/11-related and other general mental health disorders.
