IADR & GSK announce 2005 Innovation in Oral Care Awards

International & American Associations for Dental Research

Alexandria, Virginia...The International Association for Dental Research and GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare today announced the winners of the IADR/GSK Innovation in Oral Care Awards for 2005. These awards are intended to inspire innovative and novel research in oral care with a direct impact on the quality of human life.

A large number of applications was received from teams of researchers around the globe, and these were reviewed by an internationally recognized panel of experts, under the chairmanship of Dr. John Stamm, former Dean, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry.

The awards, to be provided in the form of an unrestricted research grant, will be funded by GSK and administered by the IADR. The three teams to receive funding will share $225,000 and include three academic centers:

  • University of California-San Francisco, USA (Dr. John Featherstone and co-workers)
  • University of Iceland, Reykjavik (Dr. Peter Holbrook and co-workers)
  • University of Illinois at Chicago, USA (Dr. Lin Tao and co-workers)

    The awards will be formally presented during the 83rd General Session of IADR/AADR, to be held in Baltimore, Maryland, March 9-12, 2005.
