New York, February 2, 2006 – World-leading scientific and medical publisher Elsevier is pleased to announce the formation of a publishing partnership with the International Society for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD), the world's leading organization in the field covering the assessment of skeletal health.

Under the agreement, Elsevier will assume publication of Journal of Clinical Densitometry (JCD), official journal of the ISCD, beginning with the January-March 2006 issue. Paul D. Miller, MD, CCD, will continue to serve as Editor-in-Chief. Dr. Miller said, "The high-quality print and electronic publishing services provided by Elsevier will help consolidate JCD's position as the foremost journal for all professionals involved in the evaluation, treatment, and monitoring of patients with osteoporosis and related bone diseases. Working with Elsevier will permit ISCD to better meet the professional and clinical needs of its membership and the Journal's unique reader base. This relationship will allow us to introduce new features as well as explore expanding the Journal's frequency."

Journal of Clinical Densitometry is the pre-eminent journal devoted to the measurement of bone mass and bone density--techniques essential for diagnosis and monitoring of patients with osteoporosis and other metabolic bone diseases. It provides a unique, cross-disciplinary perspective addressing the concerns of all health professionals involved in the clinical use of dual energy x-ray absorptiometry and related techniques. The journal's audience includes physicians from a wide range of specialties--including radiology, endocrinology, rheumatology, and women's health--along with densitometry technologists.

Each quarterly issue of JCD presents the latest peer-reviewed clinical research on densitometry techniques, complemented by expert reviews of critical topics in the field. Other features include reports on new and emerging technologies, technical tips, and timely information on practice management and quality assurance.

Members of ISCD will continue to receive the print edition of JCD as a benefit of membership. In addition, members and subscribers will be able to access the entire contents of each issue online at the new, dedicated journal website, which can be found through the ISCD website, www.iscd.org. Other online features will include a comprehensive search engine, allowing users to search JCD alone, or to include hundreds of other Elsevier journals and MEDLINE in a single query; options to sign up for e-mail alerts; and more. The Journal will also be accessible through Elsevier's institutional subscription service, ScienceDirect (www.sciencedirect.com).

Another key upgrade will be the ability for contributors to submit manuscripts electronically via the Elsevier Editorial System (http://authors.elsevier.com), streamlining the peer review and editorial process.

"We're happy to add this unique interdisciplinary publication to our journal line," said Herb Niemirow, who will serve as Publisher of JCD for Elsevier. "We look forward to working with our partners at ISCD in producing a journal that will be essential reading for all those interested in the clinical practice of densitometry."
