"These young people have demonstrated solutions and innovative technologies that will help reduce energy consumption and contribute to making Canada a world-leading economy."
Launched in the fall of 2002, Energy Ambassadors is an annual competition that recognizes and rewards undergraduate post-secondary students for achievements in the field of energy efficiency. The program, delivered by NRCan's Office of Energy Efficiency, draws attention to the role of energy efficiency in reducing consumption and conserving energy resources.
Each winner or winning team receives a prize of $1,000 per person (maximum of $3,000 for team entries). Energy Ambassadors also have the opportunity to meet with energy-efficiency leaders from industry, utilities and the non-profit sector at Globe 2006, the Biennial Trade Fair and Conference on Business and the Environment starting on March 29.
