Dr. Manu Malek, Director of the Graduate Certificate in CyberSecurity Program and Industry Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Stevens, was again the coordinator of the application to NSA for this recognition. Malek, an IEEE Fellow, IEEE Communications Society Distinguished Lecturer, and who was awarded the IEEE Third Millennium Medal in 2000, said, "Being selected again for this honor speaks to Stevens' continued strength in all areas of information assurance. We are pleased to continue to be recognized for our commitment to and excellence in security education."
New and re-designated Centers of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education are recognized each year in a formal presentation at the annual conference of the Colloquium for Information Systems Security Education. The colloquium also provides a forum for key officials in government, industry and academia to discuss current and emerging requirements in information assurance education, and to encourage the development and expansion of related curricula at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
The ceremony recognizing this achievement will be held on Tuesday, 6 June 2006 during the annual conference at the University of Maryland University College Inn and Conference Center, Adelphi, Md.
