Thousand Oaks, CA, USA (March 29, 2006) – SAGE Publications is pleased to announce it's now partnering with the National Commission on Correctional Health Care to publish the Journal of Correctional Health Care. Edited by John R. Miles, MPA, this quarterly, peer-reviewed scientific journal focuses on the latest developments in correctional health care.

Featuring original research, case studies, best practices and literature reviews, the Journal addresses areas such as: clinical health care, health services and support, staffing, ethical issues, medical records, risk management and medical-legal issues. Each issue also has a self-study exam by which professionals may earn continuing education credit.

"While the main focus of the Journal of Correctional Health Care is on inmates," comments Mr. Miles, an eminent public health expert with a 39-year history at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, "their families, neighborhoods and even the corrections staff also benefit. The Journal provides the forum to discuss collaborations between corrections and public health programs at all levels and to disseminate research findings to correctional, public health and community care providers."

"Our strategic alliance with Sage will be a tremendous benefit to researchers and practitioners in this growing field," adds NCCHC president Edward A. Harrison. "With surging awareness that correctional health care is a vital element of public health, access to the best available research is more important than ever. NCCHC and Sage are committed to leading the way in this field, and together will provide new resources to enhance the practice of correctional medicine."

A free sample issue of the Journal of Correctional Health Care will be available online in April at http://jchc.sagepub.com.
