The fact sheets were produced as part of the National Academy of Engineering-led project "News and Terrorism: Communicating in a Crisis." This series of nationwide scenario-based workshops help journalists, government officials, scientists, engineers, and heath experts learn to communicate more effectively – both with each other and with the public – during crises. The project was collaboration between the National Academies, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the Radio and Television News Directors Foundation.
